The Little Prince – for over 3000 little readers of the
Altaian magazine "Solony"
Solony
(“the rainbow” in the Altaic language) is a small,
but very
beautiful magazine for children, published in the Altaic, a language
spoken by a tiny ethnic group living in the Altai Mountains in the
very heart of Siberia. Every 2 months its head and editor Kuler
Tepukov drives over 200 km along the curvy mountain roads to deliver
the magazine to its 3000 subscribers.
The magazine also issues a Russian edition, but on account of poor funding it usually happens only once a year. Another thing the magazine’s team does is translate the best books for children to help its Altaic-speaking readers discover the world’s most treasured masterpieces through the eyes of their own language and culture…
Behind this project there is Solony team’s dream – to share with their little subscribers one of the most beautiful books of the XXth century – a fairy-tale by the French writer and aviator – Antoine de Saint Exupéry.
We can’t but agree that this dream is really worth coming true.
